Privacy Policy — Noor Raah
Last updated: 4 October 2026
The short version. Noor Raah has no accounts and no server that stores your personal data. Your bookmarks, notes, prayer log, tasbih counts and settings stay on your phone. The app shows no ads. A few features fetch content from the internet when you use them, as listed below. Crash reports are sent only if you allow it, and you can change that at any time.
What stays on your phone
Everything you do in Noor Raah is saved only on your phone: Quran bookmarks and notes, reading and listening history, favourite surahs and Parahs, khatm progress, Seerah, Hadith and Dua bookmarks, your prayer log, streaks and Qada counts, tasbih counts and your daily dhikr goal, checklists, Zakat calculator inputs, your settings, and translations the app has saved so it does not need to fetch them again.
We never receive any of this. To erase all of it, open the app's Privacy screen and use Delete Local Data. This returns the app to a fresh install. We have no copy to restore, because we never had one.
Location
If you allow location access, Noor Raah uses your location to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. These calculations happen on your phone and your location is not sent anywhere for them. You can also enter a city by hand instead; it is stored only on your phone.
There is one exception. When you tap to search for nearby mosques, your coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap's public Overpass service so it can return mosques near you. This happens only when you search. If you then open directions to a mosque, Google Maps opens with that mosque's location.
Compass
The live Qibla compass uses your phone's motion sensors. This happens on your phone and is never sent anywhere.
Notifications
Prayer and adhkar reminders are scheduled on your phone and arrive even when the app is closed. There is no notification server, and nothing about your reminders is sent to us or anyone else.
Content fetched from the internet
These requests happen only when you use the feature listed. Each one contains only what is needed to fetch the content. Like any internet request, the service also receives standard technical details such as your IP address, under its own policies.
| Service | When | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| cdn.islamic.network | You play Quran recitation | Which surah or ayah audio file |
| everyayah.com | You play the Urdu translation audio | Which ayah audio file |
| cdn.jsdelivr.net (Hadith books from the hadith-api project) | You open the Hadith tab | Which Hadith collection |
| Google Translate and MyMemory | You tap Urdu on a hadith, or Arabic or Urdu on a Seerah chapter that is not yet saved | The English text being translated |
| OpenStreetMap Overpass (overpass-api.de and its mirrors lz4.overpass-api.de and overpass.kumi.systems) | You search for nearby mosques | Your coordinates and the search distance |
| Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) | The app starts | Standard requests for the app's typefaces |
| Google Play | You tap to rate the app | Handled by Google Play's in-app review |
Links to our website, YouTube, Instagram, Google Play or Google Maps open only when you tap them, and those sites' own policies then apply.
Crash reports (only if you allow)
The first time you open Noor Raah it asks whether it may send diagnostic information. Nothing is sent unless you choose Allow. You can change your choice at any time in Settings.
Crash reports are sent through Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service, to help us find and fix bugs. A crash report contains technical details about the error, the app version, your phone's model and Android version, and identifiers that Crashlytics creates for this installation of the app. It never contains your name, email, phone number, location, notes, bookmarks or anything you have typed. Google keeps crash reports for 90 days.
Emailing us
If you choose to email us from the app's Support screen, your email app opens with a draft that includes the app version, your phone model, Android version and language, to help us answer. You can read and edit the draft before sending, and nothing is sent unless you send it.
No accounts, no ads, no selling data
There is no sign-in, no advertising and no advertising code in the app. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Children
Noor Raah is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If a change to Noor Raah changes what data is used, we will update this policy and the "Last updated" date above.
